At least once a year we go on a family holiday. We either go somewhere with my family, my wife's, or both. The reason we do this is because we do no have enough time during the year to see any of them, so we have time to catch up. Also, as it is our annual break, it is a time of rest. My wife and I get to spend more time together than at any time during the rest of the year.
We do fun things together, talk, and we sleep a little bit extra. I do not know if it is because of the extreme year we have had, but this years break was particularly needed. We craved it for a few weeks until the day arrived.
Maybe you have also felt like this. Maybe you feel like that now. Know that rest is very important. Firstly, in the beginning, Genesis 2:4 By the seventh day God had finished his work. On the seventh day he rested from all his work.
Secondly, in Mat 6:31 Jesus talks about the wildflowers in the field and adds: What I'm trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God's giving . People who don't know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don't worry about missing out. You'll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.
Jesus know and teaches us that we do not have to worry, as we will, find rest in God if we know Him.
What I am observing is that 2 things are important: physical rest and Godly rest. Both very important, but only one will add real value to your life
